Featured will be three of the most preeminent music writers working today: Peter Guralnick, author of many books including his best selling two volume biography of Elvis Presley—Last Train to Memphis and Careless Love; Elijah Wald, author of numerous studies of folk and blues, including Dylan Goes Electric: Newport, Seeger, Dylan and the Night that Split the Sixties; and Peter Ames Carlin, whose biographies include those of Paul McCartney and Brian Wilson, as well as the well received biography, Bruce. The conversation will be moderated by Jefferson Cowie, the James G. Stahlman Professor of History at Vanderbilt. Sponsored by the Department of History.

Down in Brazil, the publisher Nossacultura has just published a Portuguese edition of the book, pegged to Springsteen’s appearance at the massive Rock in Rio festival on September 21. But first, Springsteen & band will be making a quick stop in Sao Paulo on September 18, and that’s where the action begins.
