PUBLIC SPEAKING: A professional writer for nearly 30 years, Peter is available to speak about his books, music, popular culture, and journalism to colleges, journalism schools and other professional and cultural organizations. Previous engagements include: The Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame (Cleveland, OH); the 2012 Bruce Springsteen Symposium at Monmouth University, (New Jersey); the University of Nevada/Reno’s Reynolds School of Journalism; Washington State University/Vancouver; the Terroir Creative Writing Festival (McMinnville, Ore.) and at the Princeton (NJ) Public Library (in conversation with Sean Wilentz). He has also appeared multiple times at the Seaside (Ore.) Public Library, the Deschutes Public Library (Bend, Ore.) , the Wordstock Festival and is currently scheduled to speak at the University of Oregon’s School of Journalism and at Lewis and Clark College in January, 2014.
MEDIA APPEARANCES: Peter has also appeared on national/syndicated radio shows include NPR’s “Weekend Edition,” NPR/Sirius’s “Bob Edwards Weekend,” WNYC’s “Soundcheck,” Bloomberg Radio’s “Joe Franklin Show,” “The Dennis Miller Show,” Oregon Public Broadcasting’s syndicated “Live Wire” stage show and on Sirius’s “E Street Radio,” where he has served as a guest host and made several appearances on Dave Marsh’s “Live From the E Street Nation.” He has been interviewed on an array of subjects on the CBC, the BBC and on multiple radio and television networks in Brazil and across South America. On television he has appeared as a media and culture analyst on CNN and MSNBC and has been featured on CNN’s “Starting Point.”
